   wow, and that’s why you should always judge a book by its cover.

   it’s interesting how the type faces seem to be the most immediate sign of any ‘dating’ so to speak. well, I think it’s interesting at least.

   also interesting is how the themes of these books (and I am judging the entire plot line by the cover here) seem equally as relevant today than at any other time. maybe that isn’t so surprising given the genre.

   Totally agree, some of the typefaces look very dated although some of the illustration also look very old school. The Azimov covers with the photographic design still look very modern to me, in a swiss kind of way.

   One ‘art fact’ I didn’t include in the post: Chris Foss who illustrates a couple of the covers above had one of his pieces ‘copied’ by Turner prize winner Glennn Brown, the piece was titled Towards An International Socialism (After Chris Foss). I remember at the time there was lots of chin stroking about plagiarism and ownership…
